The Texas Tower
The University of Texas Tower is 307 feet tall. It was designed by Paul Cret of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The University of Texas Tower was completed in 1937. Through the years, the tower has served as the university's most distinguishing landmark and as a symbol of academic excellence and personal opportunity. It was also built to compete with the Austin skyline. The tower is centrally located on the University of Texas campus. When a University of Texas sports Team wins, the tower lights up
Orange. When the University of Texas wins a National Championship its orange with special effects. Also, when the University overcomes a challenge, it lights up orange and white. Some other interesting facts are that in 1965 it had a fire on the 20th floor. The bells ring every 15 minutes.
